Tony Award Winner Actor/Singer Brian Stokes Mitchell to
Perform at Westport Country Playhouse
Harold Levine, long time Westport resident and Chairman of the Board of Neighborhood Studios of Fairfield County is pleased to announce the Spring Gala featuring Tony Award Winner Actor/Singer Brian Stokes Mitchell at the Westport Country Playhouse on March 17, 2012.
Audiences will get an opportunity to see Brian Stokes Mitchell on the Valentine’s Day episode of the hit TV show Glee. Broadway veteran Brian Stokes Mitchell has been cast opposite Jeff Goldblum as the adoptive parents of Lea Michele's character on hit TV show Glee. Hiram and LeRoy Berry will appear on the show's Valentine's Day episode, which is titled "Heart," and the duo will get to sing.
Dubbed “The Last Leading Man” by the New York Times, Brian Stokes Mitchell has enjoyed a rich and varied career on Broadway, television and film along with appearances in the great American concert halls. His musical versatility has kept him in demand by some of the country’s finest conductors and orchestras. A powerful baritone, he has been one of the central leading men of the Broadway theatre since the early 1990s. He won a Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical in 2000 for his performance in Kiss Me Kate and most recently starred in the film “Jumping the Broom” opposite Angela Bassett. His TV credits include roles on "Frasier" and "Ugly Betty.
His Broadway career includes performances in “Man of La Mancha” (Tony nomination and Helen Hayes Award); “Kiss Me Kate” (Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards); “Ragtime” (Tony nomination); August Wilson’s “King Hedley II” (Tony nomination); “Kiss of the Spider Woman;” “Jelly’s Last Jam;” David Merrick’s “Oh, Kay!” and “Mail,” which earned him a Theatre World award for outstanding Broadway Debut.
Neighborhood Studios of Fairfield County provides arts education to children at risk and those with special needs. Tickets go on sale Tuesday, January 24th. Ticket pricing for this event is as follows: $250 includes post performance reception with Brian Stokes Mitchell; $150 Patron/Preferred Seating; $75.
